Once upon a time, three brothers lived in a small village near a forest.

The two oldest brothers were greedy and unkind, but the youngest was kind and honest.

Everyone in the village called the youngest brother "Simpleton" because he seemed simple.

On the way, he met a little old man who was sitting under a tree.

The oldest brother said "No!" and walked away quickly.

Soon after, he cut his hand with the axe and went home in pain.

The next day, the second brother went to the forest, but he was greedier than the first.

The old man appeared again and asked for food, but the second brother refused too.

After breakfast the third day, Simpleton took a small piece of bread and went to the forest.

Simpleton dug under the roots and found a goose with beautiful golden feathers.

"This goose is more special than anything in the world," he said to himself.

He picked up the golden goose and walked happily towards the town.

When Simpleton stopped at an inn, three sisters saw the golden goose and wanted a feather.

The oldest sister touched the goose, but her hand got stuck and she could not let go.
