Hamelin'in Alacalı Borucusu
Long ago, there was a small town called Hamelin in Germany.
Uzun zaman önce, Almanya'da Hamelin adında küçük bir kasaba vardı.
The people of Hamelin were happy, because the town was clean and beautiful.
Hamelin halkı mutluydu, çünkü kasaba temiz ve güzeldi.
But one summer, thousands of rats came into the town.
Ama bir yaz, binlerce fare kasabaya geldi.
The rats were bigger than cats and they ate all the food.
Fareler kedilerden büyüktü ve tüm yiyecekleri yediler.
The people were scared and worried, so they went to the mayor.
Halk korkmuş ve endişeliydi, bu yüzden belediye başkanına gittiler.
"Please help us! The rats are stealing our food every day!" they said.
"Lütfen bize yardım edin! Fareler her gün yiyeceklerimizi çalıyor!" dediler.
The mayor was the most important man in the town, but he could not stop the rats.

One morning, a strange man came to the town hall.

He was wearing the most colorful clothes in the world.

He had a long pipe in his hand and he was smiling.
Elinde uzun bir kaval vardı ve gülümsüyordu.
"I am the Pied Piper," he said to the mayor, "and I can get rid of all your rats."

The mayor was very surprised, so he asked, "How can you do that?"

"My pipe has magic music, and all rats follow me when I play," said the Piper.

The mayor promised to pay the Piper one thousand gold coins after the job.

That afternoon, the Pied Piper walked through the streets and began to play his pipe.

The music was the most beautiful sound the rats ever heard.

All the rats came out of the houses and followed the Piper through the streets.

The Piper walked to the river outside the town, and all the rats jumped into the water.

The people watched and they were happier than ever before.

The next day, the Piper went to the mayor and asked for his reward.

But the mayor laughed and said, "The rats are gone now, so I will pay you only ten coins."
Ama belediye başkanı güldü ve dedi ki: "Fareler şimdi gitti, bu yüzden sana sadece on sikke vereceğim."
The Piper was very angry because the mayor did not keep his promise.

"You will be sorry," said the Piper quietly, and he left the town hall.

The next morning, the Piper walked through the streets again and started playing a different tune.

This time, all the children of Hamelin heard the music and came running out of their homes.

The children were dancing and laughing as they followed the Piper out of the town.

The parents saw their children leaving, so they ran after them and cried for help.

The Piper led the children to a big mountain before the parents could reach them.

A door opened in the side of the mountain, and the children went inside the cave.

Then the door closed, and the children disappeared.

The mayor felt terrible because he did not keep his promise, and all the children were gone.
Belediye başkanı kendini çok kötü hissetti, çünkü sözünü tutmamıştı ve tüm çocuklar gitmişti.
The people of Hamelin never forgot that day, and they always said: "A promise is a promise."
Hamelin halkı o günü hiç unutmadı ve her zaman şunu söylediler: "Söz sözdür."
