The Firebird
Ateş Kuşu
An old tsar lives in a beautiful kingdom.
Güzel bir krallıkta yaşlı bir çar yaşar.
Every morning, he is walking in his golden garden.
Her sabah altın bahçesinde yürüyüş yapar.
The garden has many wonderful apple trees.
Bahçede pek çok muhteşem elma ağacı var.
But today, the apples are not on the trees.
Ama bugün elmalar ağaçlarda değil.
Something is stealing the golden apples every night.
Her gece bir şey altın elmaları çalıyor.
The tsar is very angry because the apples are gone.
Elmalar gittiği için çar çok kızgın.
He calls his three sons and says: "Watch the garden tonight!"
Üç oğlunu yanına çağırır ve şöyle der: "Bu gece bahçeyi izleyin!"
The first two sons are not brave — they fall asleep.

But the youngest son, Ivan, is sitting in the dark garden.

He is not sleeping because he is very curious.

At midnight, the garden is suddenly glowing with bright light.

A magnificent bird is flying over the apple trees.

Its feathers are golden and red, like fire.

Ivan is scared but he does not run away.
Ivan korkuyor ama kaçmıyor.
He catches one feather from the firebird's tail.
Ateş kuşunun kuyruğundan bir tüy yakalar.
In the morning, Ivan shows the glowing feather to his father.
Sabah Ivan, ışıldayan tüyü babasına gösterir.
The tsar is very excited and he says: "Bring me the firebird!"
Çar çok heyecanlanır ve şöyle der: "Bana ateş kuşunu getir!"
Ivan does not know where the firebird is living.
Ivan, ateş kuşunun nerede yaşadığını bilmiyor.
He is riding his horse and going into the deep forest.

Suddenly, a big grey wolf is standing in his path.

Ivan is very scared, but the wolf speaks kindly.
Ivan çok korkuyor ama kurt nazikçe konuşur.
The wolf says: "I know where the firebird is. Come with me!"

Ivan is surprised because the wolf is not dangerous.

He trusts the magic wolf and they travel together.

The wolf takes Ivan to a distant castle at sunset.
Kurt, gün batımında Ivan'ı uzak bir şatoya götürür.
The firebird is sitting in a golden cage inside the castle.
Ateş kuşu şatonun içindeki altın bir kafeste oturuyor.
Ivan opens the cage because the bird is asking for freedom.
Kuş özgürlük istediği için Ivan kafesi açar.
The grateful firebird says: "Thank you! I give you one magic feather."
Minnettar ateş kuşu şöyle der: "Teşekkür ederim! Sana bir sihirli tüy veriyorum."
Ivan goes home with the feather, and the tsar is very proud of him.
